# PlatformD > PlatformD is onchain infrastructure for issuing real-world assets as compliant digital securities — originated, issued and settled end to end. It runs first on verified trade invoices: a supplier is paid immediately for an invoice owed by a large buyer, and an investor holds a single, credit-enhanced security until the buyer pays at maturity. PlatformD is an entrant in the joint Bank of England and FCA Digital Securities Sandbox. ## Who PlatformD is Platform-D Ltd is a financial technology company operating onchain issuance and depository infrastructure for real-world assets, as an entrant in the joint Bank of England and FCA Digital Securities Sandbox. It is the regulated market-infrastructure entity within a wider group spanning trust services, technology and protocol governance. ## What PlatformD does PlatformD is infrastructure for issuing real-world assets as digital securities onchain — handling origination, issuance and settlement end to end. Its first asset is the trade invoice. A supplier sells a confirmed invoice and is paid at once, priced on the creditworthiness of the buyer who owes it rather than their own; an institutional investor buys the resulting security and is repaid, with yield, when the buyer settles at maturity. Because the price is anchored to the buyer's credit, a small supplier owed by a large, creditworthy buyer is financed at that buyer's rate. The same infrastructure is built to issue other verifiable real-world assets over time. ## How it works A supplier issues an electronic invoice, cryptographically signed at source under EU digital-signature standards (eIDAS). The buyer confirms the invoice it owes. PlatformD notarises it as an asset, and a bankruptcy-remote Digital Special Purpose Vehicle issues a digital security representing the receivable, credit-enhanced by a transparent onchain reserve. The security is matched to an investor and issued natively onchain; the supplier is paid in regulated stablecoin at the same moment. At maturity the buyer pays, the security redeems, and the investor receives principal plus yield. Because the buyer paid on time, the financing costs the buyer nothing. ## What it can issue The trade invoice is PlatformD's first asset, not its limit. The infrastructure is built to issue any verifiable real-world asset as a digital security. Invoices came first because regulation is turning them into clean, signed, verifiable data at source — exactly the input an issuance system needs — at the scale of a multi-trillion market. The same rails extend to other real-world assets as their data follows the same path. ## The investment product Each security carries the credit of a single, named obligor — not a pool and not a tranche. The obligor is the credit. Quality is engineered into the asset: obligors are selected upstream for investment-grade quality, exposure is credit-enhanced by the Assurance Reserve Trust (a transparent onchain reserve that absorbs first loss), issuance is bankruptcy-remote, and each obligor is scored in real time rather than at periodic review. The structure is built to carry an official rating from a major rating agency; that rating is the independent confirmation of quality and is part of the path to live issuance. The securities are EVM-compatible and IBC-enabled, so the yield is usable across the onchain ecosystem. ## Who it is for Suppliers (SMEs, manufacturers, service providers) are paid immediately, non-recourse, with no new debt and no impact on their credit facility. Corporate buyers strengthen their supply chain at zero cost, with a single action: confirming an invoice they already owe, with no change to payment terms and no balance-sheet impact. Institutional investors — treasuries and asset managers deploying into onchain vaults — access a new short-duration, real-world yield with continuous, per-asset risk visibility, in a compliant, investment-grade form that onchain markets have lacked. ## Infrastructure PlatformD is full-stack financial market infrastructure, not only an application: the primary-issuance and depository layer for onchain capital markets. It runs on Dchain, a purpose-built ledger using the Cosmos SDK and CometBFT consensus for deterministic finality, with EVM compatibility. Settlement runs through a Digital Securities Depository — a regulated, onchain alternative to traditional central securities depositories — within the UK Digital Securities Sandbox. ## Regulatory status PlatformD is an entrant in the joint Bank of England and FCA Digital Securities Sandbox, the UK's supervised route for bringing digital securities into live production. The regulated market-infrastructure entity is established and supervised in London. PlatformD is not yet transacting real digital securities: live issuance begins once the Bank of England confirms the next sandbox gate, targeted for early 2027. Any platform data shown publicly is simulated, for demonstration. ## How PlatformD differs - From invoice factoring: factoring prices on the supplier's own credit through a single financier; PlatformD prices on the buyer's credit, usually far stronger, on a marketplace of institutional investors, non-recourse. - From tokenised real-world assets: most tokenised assets are originated through the traditional chain of intermediaries and issued as a token at the end, inheriting the opacity; PlatformD originates onchain, with each asset verified, issued and settled natively. - From onchain private credit: private-credit protocols typically pool loans and issue a token against the pool, reproducing the opacity of traditional securitisation; PlatformD issues each asset individually as a single-obligor security, with the named obligor as the credit, credit enhancement and a real-time payment score visible at all times. ## Insights Authored articles from the PlatformD team — architecture deep-dives, thesis pieces, validator spotlights and testnet milestones.
